A new and improved Bob the Builder upsets fans

HE is the builder who can fix everything, including himself.

Bob the Builder has been given a makeover.

He is younger, thinner, taller, more fashion-forward and he has even upgraded his friends, but his admirers are not happy about the new and improved Bob.

Bob and friends are also leaving the village of Fixham to relocate to the buzzier Spring City.

Hit Entertainment, a division of Mattel, announced the changes on the weekend, coining the program's catch phrase:

"Can we fix it? Yes, we can!"

The children's series, which began in Britain in 1998, has been revamped to air in 2015 with a completely new cast as well as a new look.
