Harriet Wran charged with murder over weekend stabbing

FORMER New South Wales Premier Neville Wran's daughter has been charged with murder over a stabbing death of a man at the weekend.

NSW Homicide Detectives arrested Harriet Wran, 26, and Michael Lee, 35, on Wednesday at an address in western Sydney.

Both have been charged with murder, attempted murder and aggravated break and enter.

Both appeared in Liverpool Local Court on Thursday where no application for bail was made.

The pair are accused of murdering Daniel McNulty, 48, who was stabbed to death on Sunday outside a public housing block in Walker St, Redfern.

Another man, 42, who has yet to be identified, was taken to hospital in a critical condition with multiple stab wounds where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A third person, Lloyd Haines, 28, was charged earlier in the week with murder in relation to the stabbing.

Former Labor Premier Neville Wran led New South Wales for more than a decade from May,1976, to July, 1986.

He died in April this year after a long battle with illness.

It is understood the Wran family has enlisted Sydney's top barrister Winston Terracini to represent her.
