FEAR of a trip to the dentist and a jab from a needle could be a thing of the past.
An innovation at Neil St Dental involves Toowoomba's first needle-free anaesthetic injections for patients.
The painless, spring-loaded pressure device - only introduced into Australia two weeks ago - is already revolutionising the dental profession.
Neil St Dental director Dr Kerry Milne said patients have really warmed to the idea of no more needles.
"Using air pressure, the device micro streams the anaesthetic into a patient's gums at a high velocity.
"It is much more advanced. The numbness only lasts a short period not for hours afterwards as is common with needles.
"There is literally no pain whatsoever," Dr Milne said.
Dr Milne said the technology was a major step forward for the profession.
"The industry has been demanding something like this for decades.
"It will certainly reduce the fear factor surrounding going to the dentist," Dr Milne said.
