NBN rollout takes in extra 36,000 homes
THE National Broadband Network will reach an extra 36,000 Sunshine Coast households by September next year, NBN Co has announced.
A spokesman for NBN Co said yesterday 19 Coast suburbs, including federal electorates of Fisher, Fairfax and Noosa, had been added to the NBN construction plan.
Federal Member for Fisher Mal Brough described the addition of 17,000 extra households in the Fisher and Fairfax electorates as great news for the Coast.

"In December 2014, NBN announced that 42,000 households (across Fisher and Fairfax) were included in the 18-month rollout, with today's announcement increasing that number to 59,400 households," Mr Brough said.
"This announcement provides greater certainty for homes and businesses across our region.
"I have been told by NBN Co that once construction commences in a suburb it is typically six months before connection to the NBN can occur.
"I am still pushing for areas like Sippy Downs and Little Mountain to be brought forward into the 18-month rollout plan and I will continue to consult with NBN on this."
