SEVEN has come out swinging in the reality TV ratings war, while Nine's revamped Married At First Sight failed hit the magic million mark.

The season eight premiere of My Kitchen Rules was the most watched show of the night, attracting 1.309 million metro city viewers according to overnight figures released by OzTam.

The cooking show was down more than 200,000 viewers though from last year's debut, which drew an audience of 1.576 million metro viewers.

In a disappointing result for Nine, Seven's new forbidden wedding series Bride & Prejudice even out-rated Married At First Sight despite its later 9pm time slot thanks to the flow-on effect of My Kitchen Rules.

Bride & Prejudice was watched by 874,000 metro viewers, compared to the 820,000 viewers who tuned in to Married At First Sight.

Channel 10's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! slipped slightly from Sunday's premiere of 1.103 million metro viewers to 959,000 viewers, who tuned in last night to see model and former rugby player Kris Smith and socialite and former 'it' girl Tziporah Malkah (formerly Kate Fischer) enter the jungle.

My Kitchen Rules, Married At First Sight and I'm A Celeb all continue to battle it out at 7.30pm tonight.
