Murray follows Djokovic out of Australian Open

FIRST Novak Djokovic. Now Andy Murray.

A week ago, many had wondered just which of the two champs would be crowned the Australian Open men's singles champion for 2017.

The fact neither will even feature in the quarter-finals would have been unthinkable.

However, after world No.2 and six-time champion Djokovic was ousted by Denis Istomin, world No.1 and the tournament favourite Murray has been bundled out.

Mischa Zverev has caused the second massive upset at the Australian Open, stunning Murray 7-5 5-7 6-2 6-4.

The world No.50 produced the performance of his career as he pressured the Brit into error after error.

Zverev fought back from being a break down twice to claim the opening set before Murray hit back to square the match at a set apiece.

With his younger brother Alexander, who had been sent packing by Rafael Nadal after a four-hour epic, watching in the crowd, Zverez would then take the next two sets in stunning fashion.

"Thank you everyone for supporting me. I heard alot of "C'mon Mischa" and that was very nice,” Zverev told the crowd.

Murray had been eyeing his first Australian Open title after four finals defeats.

"It's only tennis. I'll come back from this,” Murray said.
