Climber rescued from mountain, dog dies in fall
UPDATE 2PM: The dog that was walking with a climber who needed to be rescued from Table Top Mountain today has died.
The 30-year-old man had to be winched from the western side of the mountain by the RACQ CareFlight helicopter after he tore his knee in a fall.
He was attempting to stop his dog falling when he fell himself.
The dog was taken to a Toowoomba veterinary clinic but has since died due to injuries sustained in the fall.
1.15PM: Toowoomba RACQ CareFlight Rescue has flown an injured climber stranded on Table Top Mountain to Toowoomba Hospital.
The 30-year-old travelled in a stable condition.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said he had a torn tendon in his knee from a fall at Table Top Mountain and was taken to hospital at 12.42pm.
The man was with his dog at the time.
It has been taken to a Toowoomba vet for treatment.
12.05PM: Paramedics are on-scene and preparing to winch a 30-year-old man from Table Top Mountain after he fell and injured his knee.
RACQ CareFlight Rescue has been called to retrieve the man who put the call in for help at about 10.30am today.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the man was conscious and breathing.
11.15AM: A helicopter has been called to assist in the rescue of an injured climber stranded on Table Top Mountain.
The man is stranded on the western side of the mountain.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services personnel have called for the Rescue 500 helicopter so that the injured man can be winched from the mountain.
11AM: A rescue is under way on Table Top Mountain near Toowoomba after a climber injured his ankle
Queensland Fire and Emergency Service personnel are climbing Table Top Mountain to reach the injured man.
The man is located on the western side of the mountain.
Additional emergency services have been called to the incident, which was reported about 10.45am.
