Column ‘why beer is better than women’ enrages the nation

AS IF women didn't have enough misogyny in the world to deal with, then comes the cherry on top.

A Victorian newspaper this week "accidentally" printed a column '25 reasons why beer is better than women' after it was sent in by a reader.

The column has enraged women of the nation - and reading it, there is a very obvious reason why.

Aside from the crass sex jokes like "you can enjoy beer all month long", and "you can always share a beer with friends", there were many from the 'women are inferior' line of thinking.

"Beer doesn't demand equality" and "after you're finished with a beer the bottle is still worth five cents," are just a few of the gems.

The column was published on November 18, 2015 in The Hamilton Spectator, The Portland Observer and Casterton News.

The managing director of The Hamilton Spectator Richard Beks spoke to Mamamia.com.au and said printing the column was a mistake.

"It was sent in by a reader and somebody has blindly put the joke in without much consideration while the editor is away on holidays," Mr Beks said.
