Michael Wright gets hole-in-one at Queensland Open

POPULAR Queensland professional Michael Wright is $10,000 richer after scoring a hole-in-one during the second round of the Isuzu Queensland Open at Brookwater.

Wright's perfectly six iron found the cup on the 170m, 16th hole.

He started his second round on the 10th hole after opening with a 77 on Thursday.

A professional since 1999, Wright is a regular on the Queensland Sunshine Tour and played the British Open in 2006 and 2009.

Although conditions at Brookwater were more favourable than in Thursday's opening round, early scoring was steady rather than spectacular.

First round leader Anthony Brown shot a 73 to following his opening 65 and remained on top of the leaderboard at six-under.

South Australia's Tom Bond also carded 73 to be two strokes adrift with Kiwi Peter Lee (69-71).

West Australian Kim Felton is at three-under after rounds of 70-71.

"It is hard to back up after a really good round,'' said Brown.

"You just have to start all over again...in reality you don't go out and expect to repeat a similar score.

"You have to remain patient and not start pushing for birdies.

I didn't get ahead of myself and was pleased with that.''
