Memorial for avid aviator killed at Lismore airport

THE MEMORY of passionate aviator and aircraft engineer Wayne Fisher will be honoured on Friday with a memorial service organised by his three daughters.

Mr Fisher was killed at Lismore airport when the kit-built RV-12 he was testing for a local man smashed to the ground just after take-off about 9am on Sunday March 24.

Dayle Fisher, Wayne's 29-year old daughter said she and her sisters Lauren and Krystal plan to do a fly-over of Lismore airport to scatter their father's ashes.

Ms Fisher said as her father had made many friends in Australia and around the world in the aviation industry, people were welcome to fly in to Lismore airport or drive to attend the memorial service.

"The memorial service will start around 11am and will feature speeches by family and close friends," she said.

"Then we will be showing a photo tribute that us as his daughters have put together of different stages of his life."

"Weather permitting, we are organising three Drifters (aircraft) to take myself, Krystal and Lauren up to scatter Dad's ashes."

Dayle said her father was an extraordinary man for whom nothing was too big a challenge.

"He was an extraordinary man, father, pilot, aircraft engineer."

"Dad was also a drummer, a professional waterskier, a professional bodybuilder, an electrician, a boilermaker."

"The list is endless of the things he managed to achieve in his life."

"So far we have had an overwhelming number of people offering condolences and support and that has been much appreciated."

Ms Fisher said the Northern Rivers Aero Club kindly donated the use of one of its hangars for the memorial service.

Following the memorial service the Northern Rivers Aero club will provide drinks and nibbles.
