A Neighbours mega-fan has bought her dream home on Ramsay St.

UK-born Hayley Jones and partner Miles Shackley splashed out for the on-screen house of Dr Karl and Susan Kennedy, played by Alan Fletcher and Jackie Woodburne, in Vermont South.

The humble brick home at 5 Pin Oak Court, better known on-screen as 28 Ramsay St, sold for a whopping $1.405 million.

It was a result more than $250,000 above the top end of the price guide and the first house to sell for seven figures on the court.

Ms Jones said she was living her dream by moving into a house that was aired across the world on her favourite show.

"I do regularly check for listings and when my friend told me this was for sale, I said 'I think this is the one'," Ms Jones said.

"I still remember watching the show's first ever episode in the UK and I can't believe it."

Mr Shackley said they jumped at the chance to buy a piece of television history, because houses on the street "don't come up for sale very often".

National Property Buyer's advocate Antony Bucello represented the couple at the auction, which went back-and-forth with one other party.

He said a $1.2855 million opening bid, well above reserve, helped cut out a lot of the competition.

"It was certainly nerve-racking for my clients, you could see it," Mr Bucello said.

"I'm not surprised this drew such a big crowd … they're pretty tightly held here and it's a good house."

There was no sign of UK-expat Andrew Whitney, a millionaire fan who had already bought two properties on the cul-de-sac.

He previously told the Herald Sun that he was interested in the four-bedroom house, which started as home to Des Clarke, but has most famously been home to the Kennedy's since 1995.

The vendors, who remained extremely private during the sale, bought the property for $68,000 in 1978 according to CoreLogic.

Harcourts Judd White director Dexter Prack said they were rapt by the windfall and planned to downsize.

He said there were some extra perks to living on the "landmark" street, including a full-time security guard and an undisclosed amount of money paid by Fremantle Media to homeowners each year.

The property had been well maintained, with a contemporary stone kitchen and elevated deck at the rear part of the package. It's the first property to sell on the real-life Ramsay St since 2013.
