Meet the Sunshine Coast's coolest new brewery
ONE of the Sunshine Coast's best restaurateurs has a new venture and it is sure to get stomachs grumbling and mouths watering.
From the same geniuses who brought you Noosaville's popular Whisky Boy and Jimmy Fox comes the new, coolest place in Cooroy: Copperhead Restaurant and Brewery.
Jason and Sharon Cox have just opened their new type of gastro-pub, pairing pub-style food with hand-picked wines and boutique beers that are brewed extensively in-house.
The brewery has an open feel, replicating a 70-style warehouse while complementing the rustic look with modern furnishings and plenty of greenery.
Owner, general manager and brewer extraordinaire Mr Cox said he and his wife had lived in Cooroy for 14 years and were eager to look after their locals in the best way they knew how - with great food and drink.
"Unlike a lot of breweries that focus on beer and get food trucks in we are a restaurant. So come and have a burger and a beer in a pub-bar feel, or have a three course meal," Mr Cox said.
"It's pub fare done by chefs.
"You can get a parma, but it's chicken breast that's been hand crumbed, and our steaks are specially sourced."
At Copperhead you can get a hand-crafted beer but if hops aren't your thing the wine list is expansive, yet carefully selected.
"We've put a lot of effort into our wine list," Mr Cox said.
"They're all from individual wine growers.
"We're all about the little guy."
Copperhead has brought together some of the best chefs and front-of-house staff from the best restaurants on Hastings St.
But don't be fooled, while the service and the nosh may be top-notch, you'll pay what you would at any other pub.
"Our prices are pitched at pub prices," Mr Cox said.
"It's good value for money in a casual atmosphere."
