Mariners beaten by Kashiwa after strong start

CENTRAL Coast Mariners have been beaten 3-1 by Kashiwa Reysol in their Asian Champions League clash in Japan, thanks to a stunning performance by Kashiwa's Leandro Domingues.

The Mariners opened the scoring after eight minutes, when defender Patrick Zwaanswijk was left with far too much room from a corner, and he rose to power a header into the net.

The home side responded well, however, and Kashiwa equalised after 20 minutes when a great through ball found Domingues, who slid the ball coolly past Central Coast goalkeeper Mat Ryan.

Scores were level at half-time, but as the second half went on, Kashiwa began to get the better of play.

Central Coast fell behind in the 67th minute, when Domingues turned provider, putting the Mariners' defence under pressure with a cross from the right, for midfielder Kenta Kano to finish the move with a clever flick.
