A YEAR to the day after delivering Manchester City's first league title in 44 years, manager Roberto Mancini was sacked yesterday.

The shock 1-0 loss to Wigan in the FA Cup final ensured City failed to win any silverware this season - its only success, qualification for next season's Champions League.

Assistant manager Brian Kidd will be in charge of City's remaining two games of the season, against Reading overnight, and Norwich on Sunday.

Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini is tipped to replace Mancini who is being eyed by Monaco as its new boss after promotion to the top division in France.
