MURGON detectives are appealing for public assistance to help find the driver of a vehicle that approached a young boy at Durong yesterday.
A nine-year-old boy was waiting for a school bus on Shellytop Rd about 8am when a Toyota Landcruiser stopped next to him.
The boy told police the male driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and he tried to entice him into the car several times before repeatedly yelling at him in an attempt to coerce him into the four-wheel-drive.
The boy refused and the vehicle drove off.
The boy was not physically injured and the man did not get out of the vehicle at any stage.
The man is described as Caucasian, with a solid build, short brown hair and a scar near his left eye.
He was wearing white rimmed sunglasses and a black singlet.
The vehicle was described as an 80s series Toyota Landcruiser in poor condition.
It was silver or grey in colour with faded paint in parts.
It had a black snorkel, black bulbar with a dent in it, one roof rack and side steps.
There was a large crack on the passenger side front windscreen, from top to bottom and spreading outwards, as well as a smashed driver's side mirror with small shards of glass left in it.
The spare tyre on the rear had a black cover over it and a Ravhead sticker on the rear window.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident, or observed a vehicle of this description in the local area yesterday to contact them.
