Man snaps bikies, bikies punch man

A MAN who took a picture of a motorcycle gang fight at Cooly Rocks On ended up in hospital on Saturday.

The 61-year-old man was punched when he refused to delete the image of the alleged scuffle between the Finks Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

Queensland police confirmed a fight broke out in front of a coffee shop on Marine Pde, Coolangatta about 4.40pm.

A police spokeswoman said when the man refused to delete the image of the fight he was punched in the head before the bikies fled the scene.

"He received a small laceration to the head and was transported to Tweed Heads Hospital," he said.

"CIB are now investigating."

The Courier Mail reported that witnesses said about a dozen Finks Outlaw Motorcycle Gang members leaped into a vicious melee, throwing tables and chairs.

The very public brawl outside Bellakai Restaurant, which took place on one of the busiest days of the festival, shocked community leaders and has prompted calls for action against bikies.

Festival organisers will meet with police to discuss ways to keep future events safe.

Cooly Rocks On organiser Gail O'Neil said she would seek a debrief with police to find out exactly what happened and how to stop it happening again.

"We don't want that type of person here," she said.
