Man punched puppy 'because it soiled his car'

POLICE charged a 40-year-old man with animal cruelty after he admitted to punching a puppy multiple times.    

About 8.45pm on Thursday police were called to a Tweed Heads shopping centre car park where witnesses reported seeing a man punch a dog.    

Police discovered the man had blood on his knuckles and the dog had lacerations and blood around its snout.    

The man admitted he punched the dog "because it had soiled his vehicle".    

The bull mastiff pup is now in RSPCA care.
