Man in hospital after alleged drug-driving rampage

BREAKING: A 30-YEAR-OLD man is in Rockhampton Hospital and police are investigating after an alleged drug-driving incident at a Barmoya property overnight.

Around 8.30pm last night emergency services responded to reports the 30-year-old man had driven a vehicle into a private property on C H Barretts Rd, Barmoya and crashed multiple times.

A police spokesperson said the man crashed into a water tank and caused damage to a trailer on the property before driving away and crashing on the property again a short time later.

"He then exited the vehicle and it appears he may have been under the influence of some kind of substance," the spokesperson said.

"Police will allege they found drugs in the man's vehicle. It appears the man also had a seizure at the scene but it was due to the substance he had taken not the crash."

The vehicle was towed away from the scene and the man was taken by Queensland Ambulance to Rockhampton Hospital with a possible fractured wrist.

The police spokesperson said while no charges have been laid against the man as of yet, they could be forthcoming following testing of the alleged drugs found and further investigation.

More information to come.
