Man fined $550 for Ballina hotel confrontation

A 22-year-old Ballina man has been issued with a $550 fine for failing to leave vicinity of a Ballina hotel on Saturday night.

It is alleged that about 12:40am Sunday morning the male was intoxicated and became involved in a confrontation another patron.

The 22-year-old man was excluded by security and directed to move outside the 50m vicinity of the hotel.

He moved only a short distance away and returned to the front door of the hotel again.

The male was again instructed by security to move 50m away and started to walk away.

About 1:20am he was directly outside the hotel and was involved in a confrontation with a patron leaving the hotel.

Hotel security was required to intervene to prevent an assault.

The male was advised that police were being contacted and the male left the area before police arrived.

A statement was obtained by police and the male was later issued a $550 infringement notice for Excluded Person Remain in Vicinity of Licensed Premises and has been banned by hotel management due to his behaviour.
