Man charged after allegedly using guitar to bash woman

A 51-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm following investigations into an incident at Innot Hot Springs on August 29.

Police will allege the man has physically assaulted a 38-year-old, Mount Garnett woman by striking her to the head with a guitar.

The woman was transported to Atherton Hospital on September 12, as a result of her injury deteriorating.  She was later transferred to Cairns Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

The woman and the man were known to each other.

The man is due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court tomorrow, September 21.
