Macca has his eye op

THE Macca the Cat story has a happy ending.

Macca is one of three kittens born to a stray cat.

His mother was desexed, one of the litter was found a home, and another died.

Macca was placed in the care of animal carer Leanne Furlonger, of Ballina.

However, Macca was diagnosed with an eye problem which needed corrective surgery. Macca had "eyelid agenesis", which causes blindness if not treated.

A Gold Coast specialist vet offered to operate at a reduced fee, but Leanne could not meet the cost of the operation.

But with the help of Ballina Veterinary Hospital and the Ballina Shire Advocate, Leanne launched an appeal, which raised $1700.

Renae from the vet hospital said the surgery has been done, and she issues a big thank you to those who donated.
