Luncheons planned to celebrate International Women's Day

WOMEN will be encouraged to focus on mind and body wellness and their work/life balance in Ballina on Friday.

More than 200 women are expected to attend the Northern Rivers International Women's Day Luncheon, hosted by the Ballina Chamber of Commerce.

Guest speakers include naturopath Jennifer Jefferies, who started her career in the Australian Army at 17 and was the first female pyrotechnician in Australia.

She entered the corporate world after her time in the army, but was burnt out by the time she was 27.

Reinventing herself as a naturopath, Ms Jefferies helps people to improve their health, well-being and productivity by finding balance in their lives.

The second guest speaker is Gina McMaster, a counselling psychologist, who is passionate about "working with women to achieve peace and well-being through the practice of mindfulness".

Tickets for the Ballina lunch are on sale until lunchtime tomorrow.
