Lucy Gallant releases new single, Freaky

BYRON Bay resident Lucy Gallant was one of the few local musicians going on stage at Bluesfest 2017.

Besides Billinudgel's Andrew Morris, who went on stage with his band The Wilson Pickers, and Byron Bay resident Bernard Fanning -who went on stage with Kasey Chambers on Monday- Gallant was the only local female featured at the festival.

Freaky is the name of the singer songwriter's latest single, released last Thursday.

"It's a naughty song, it's about meeting someone and getting freaky straight away. It's a comedy song," she said.

"In the music video, filmed in Barcelona, this girl thinks this guy has fallen in love for her but all he did was to pet her dog."

The singer songwriter completed Music production studies at SAE Byron Bay last year, so she is producing some of her future releases.

Gallant said her latest single and music video, Firegirl, released at the beginning of last year, marked a new focus on her solo music project.

"I am still playing with my band, Feel Like Me, but this year I am focusing on my solo career," she said.

Her Bluesfest show featured violin and piano backing by other local artists.

"I got really fantastic feedback from the audience afterwards," she said.

"I got a lot of comments from locals, because we are a good community here and we support each other.

"(Festival director) Peter Noble has supported me a lot, he likes my music and the fact that I am a local," she said.
