Locals to have their say on building and renovating laws

BALLINA residents will be able to have their say on laws governing the certification of building or renovating a home, with an independent panel holding a local consultation session in Ballina this week.

A discussion paper has been released with community consultation sessions for the independent review of the Building Professionals Act, which starts this month.

This Act covers the accreditation of certifiers, who work independently or for councils, assessing and certifying housing, buildings or subdivisions, and other specialist works within developments.

A consultation will be held tomorrow at the Ballina Surf Club from noon until 1.30pm.
