OPINION: LNP refuses to acknowledge their defeat

IN MY days it was called bad sportsmanship. When someone refused to accept defeat graciously.

There was usually always one in a team who would walk from the field and not shake hands or begrudgingly put out a limp wrist and look the other way.

So, who am I talking about today?

It's the LNP and their chief mouthpiece, the Courier Mail.

Having lost the unloseable election they are now clutching at straws, trying to undermine Labor and force them back to the polling booths.

The headlines suggesting key Labor powerbrokers are pushing for a new election are so ludicrous it's hard not to laugh.

What Labor supporter in their right mind would say to Premier Palaszczuk forget your amazing election win and go back to the polls and risk everything.

Yet according to the LNP's newsletter, that's exactly what unnamed Labor decision-makers are saying.

If they are, it must be in their sleep in the middle of a nightmare.

There is no doubting the Premier has her issues with a rogue politician who should immediately fall on his sword.

But in a true reflection of the character of Billy Gordon, he is staying put in his outhouse.

The new government will get through this latest crisis, but all political parties have learnt a lesson from this debacle.

Knowing the background of your candidate before putting their name on a ballot paper has become rule number one.
