LeBron James voted most valuable NBA player for fourth time

MIAMI Heat superstar LeBron James has been named the NBA's Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year, and the 28-year-old did it in style.

James received 120 first-place votes from a possible 121 to claim the award for the fourth time.

He finished on 1207 points with Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant a distant second with 765.

New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony, who won the scoring title, was third on 475 points and with the other first-place vote.

No player has ever been a unanimous winner, but James equalled Shaquille O'Neal, who also received all but one first-place vote when he was with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2001.

James, who averaged 26.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocked shots a game in 76 appearances this season, his 10th in the NBA, joins legends Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bill Russell as MVP award winners at least four times in their careers.

The success made James the youngest player in NBA history to win a fourth regular season MVP award.

Abdul-Jabbar, a record six-time MVP award winner, won five by age 30.
