WORLD-CLASS waves are expected off Sydney on Thursday after stormy seas, torrential rain squalls and strong winds forced organisers to call a lay day at the Beachley Classic on Wednesday.

The swell charts are showing a solid swell in the eight foot (2.5 meter) plus range for the next three days.

The event is the fourth on the seven-event ASP 2012 Women's World Title schedule, with four-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore needing victory to all but sew up the series.
