Kiwis slip home to beat India in exciting match

THREE quick late wickets to left-arm quick Mitchell McClenaghan saw his New Zealand outfit beat India by 24 runs in an entertaining one-dayer in Napier last night.

McClenaghan (4-68 off 10 overs) dismissed dangerous Indian batsmen Virat Kohli (123 off 111 deliveries), MS Dhoni (40 off 46) and Ravindra Jadeja (zero) with the visitors closing in on their target of 293.

Some impressive fielding also helped the Black Caps in the first of five one-dayers.

Suresh Raina, Ajinkya Rahane and Dhoni all fell to some brilliant catches, with Nathan McCullum leaping and taking a catch at full stretch at mid-off to dismiss Rahane for seven.

Kohli played yet another amazing innings, scorching 11 fours and two sixes, before belting a cover drive straight to Jesse Ryder at cover. That almost signalled the end for India at 7-237, after fellow key batsman Dhoni fell 13 runs earlier.
