CURRUMBIN'S Josh Kerr took a well-deserved round two victory over Patrick Gudauskas (USA) to advance into round three of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach today.

Kerr's aerial antics combined with his powerful performance in the Bells Beach Bowl saw him advance off an excellent 8.17 and 7.93 scores (both out of 10).

Bells Beach turned on some classic conditions for the world's best surfers, with 4ft waves peeling down Rincon for the men's round two action.

Last year marked the historic 50th anniversary of competition at Bells Beach and Coolangatta's Joel Parkinson reigned supreme over Gold Coast stablemate, Mick Fanning, in a hard-fought final.

The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach will run from April 3-14, 2012.

Running in conjunction with the men's event will be the Rip Curl Women's Pro Bells Beach, the second stop on the 2012 ASP Women's World Championship Tour season.
