Keith Rhoades elected as Local Government NSW President

COFFS Harbour councillor Keith Rhoades has been elected as the first president of the new body, Local Government New South Wales.

Cr Rhoades has been voted into the position at the NSW Local Government annual conference in Sydney. 

The role is said to carry a lucrative salary of around $100,000.

The outcome of the vote conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission was publicly announced this morning.

Cr Rhoades is today chairing his first meeting in the new role.  

The long serving Coffs Harbour mayor holds a distinguished career in local government.

Cr Rhoades was elected as the president of the former body the Local Government Association of New South Wales in 2010 having served on the State Executive of that body since 2008.  

In 2007, the retired Sawtell Fire Station Commander also served as the chairman of the Country Mayor's Association of NSW, a position he held until 2010.

He was then elevated onto the Board of the Australian Local Government Association in 2010 and last year was elected to the position of National Vice President for a two year period.
