Julian Wilson defeats world number one at Pipeline

COOLUM surfer Julian Wilson has won the Billabong Pipe Masters in Hawaii to secure the Triple Crown.

The 26-year-old edged out 2014 world champion Gabriel Medina in an epic final to win by less than half a point.

The victory caps a stunning return to form for Wilson who struggled at some stages of the year.

Until recently, he was a chance of missing next year's World Championship Tour but recaptured the talent that has many touting him as a future world champion.

"This is the best day of my life," Wilson said.

"This means everything to me."
