Jets rocket up table after come-from-behind victory

NEWCASTLE Jets attacker Andrew Nabbout says the team's rare win in Perth would count for little if it didn't back it up with success against Adelaide United at home on Friday night.

The Jets won for the first time in the west since the A-League's first season (2005).

The 2-1 come-from-behind win also ended a run of seven games without victory and moved the team from ninth to seventh on the ladder.

Nabbout (pictured) was instrumental in Newcastle turning around a seventh- minute deficit into victory but said the players could not rest on their laurels heading into the busy Christmas period.

"It's (the win) massive but it's just one step on to making that roll we need leading up to the new year,” he said.

"We aren't looking to history, we just come in, play 90 minutes and try to stick to the game plan as much as we can. It was quality from us. We stuck to our structure and our guns and we got the result.”

The Jets missed a number of chances and were also kept at bay thanks to a top performance from Perth keeper Liam Reddy.

But Nabbout said he was impressed with how many chances the team created.

"We created countless opportunities and during the week our main goal was to play out and play through them,” he said.

"We exposed them in areas we knew we could. We hit the post a couple of times and (Reddy) made a few unbelievable saves.”
