A Jet Boat out of water

UPDATE 10.25am: THE Richmond River has passed through low tide, leaving the stranded Jet Boat completely out of water.

Now comes the long wait until high tide at 4pm, when the water will hopefully be deep enough to free the boat.

The Ballina Jet Boat is stuck on a sandbar in the Richmond River at Ballina.

BALLINA'S Jet Boat is looking like it's in for a quiet day after getting stuck on a sandbar in the Richmond River this morning.

It is understood an attempt was made by a fishing trawler to pull the boat off the sandbar. However, the tow-line snapped and the attempt failed.

With the tide still going out, getting the boat off the sandbar is not likely to get any easier. Low tide today is expected at 9.30am, with the next high tide not due until 4pm.
