Jessica sent home in emotional Bachelor elimination

MEETING the potential in-laws is stressful enough without having a camera crew in tow.

The Bachelor Blake Garvey faced a grilling from the parents of four women in tonight's episode of the reality dating show.

While he spilled a drink on Queenslander Louise Pillidge's father, Garvey made a much better impression on Lisa Hyde's tight-knit Noosa family.

"Everyone got on like a house on fire," Hyde told APN.

"He felt comfortable around my family. He made a few jokes and my family was like 'Oh yeah he's a good guy'.

"I did mention that he would be the second guy I've brought home and not to break my heart because I was hoping he would be the last."

Hyde's Sunshine Coast homecoming saw her and Garvey arrive at her parents' waterfront home by kayak. The lovebirds also spent time frolicking in the water at Noosa Beach.

Garvey also passed the important "sister test", gaining the approval of Lisa's older sister Sarah.

"Sarah is three years older and I look up to her so much," she said.

"I always ask for her opinion. She said that she really liked him and could see me with him, which is such a big thing for me. I value her opinion so much."

He also got the seal of approval from Sam's older sister, but at the end of the dinner Sam was full of self-doubt.

Jessica also expressed her feelings of being "sensitive" to making the right choice, saying she wanted to take things slow on the outside if they continued dating after the show.

Frontrunner Jessica was unexpectedly eliminated after being tipped as the favourite by the bachelorettes in last night's "tell all" special.

In the tearful rose ceremony, Garvey told the women he had "strong" feelings for all of them.

He welled up when he explained he had to say goodbye to a woman he had pictured a future with.

But he put the ball in Jessica's court, taking her aside to ask her where she stood.

"Ever since I've met you I've had such strong feelings for you," Garvey said.

"But my head tells me that you're not ready for the love that I'm looking for. I'd like you to tell me if I'm the man for you."

But despite Jessica saying yes and that she only needed more time, Garvey gave the final rose to Sam.

"You are an incredible man and you deserve love," Jessica said.

Next week Lisa, Louise and Sam will vie for Garvey's heart during a trip to South Africa before the final two meet Garvey's mum.

And the final seconds of tonight's show hinted at why Garvey might have been turned off by Jessica's slow and steady approach.

It looks like a proposal might be on the cards for the show's grand final, with Garvey shown to be asking someone to marry him.

The final two episodes of The Bachelor air next Wednesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
