Jay Z, Beyoncé may have paid bail for Baltimore protestors

DREAM Hampton has claimed that Beyoncé and Jay Z have not only made essential financial contributions to the #blacklivesmatter movement, but also quietly paid "tens of thousands" to bail out jailed protestors in Baltimore.

The Decoded writer and social activist posted a series of now-deleted tweets that suggested the music power couple had provided funding during the Ferguson protests, too.

"I'm going to tweet this and I don't care if Jay gets mad…" Dream Hampton wrote.

"When we needed money for bail for Baltimore protestors, I asked hit Jay up, as I had for Ferguson, wired tens of thousands in minutes [sic]"

"When BLM needed infrastructure for the many chapters that we are growing like beautiful dandelions, Carters wrote a huge check[sic]."

" … and more stuff, too much to list actually, that they always insist folk keep quiet."

"I am interested in mass movements where as many people as possible feel invested. I know that can't be built with rules on rules on rules."

"They're waging war on black resistance in a multitude of ways, many of them financially. Protest is literally punished with tariffs."

"When they fine & arrest someone for protesting, more opportunities for exploitation by the state are possible with each encounter[sic]."

"Welp, I just got the 'can you shut the f**k up and head to brunch' text. Gonna erase my error ridden rant. Hope you got your little screenshot."

The filmmaker later posted the following, un-deleted tweets:

Jay Z and Beyoncé are yet to respond to The Independent's request for clarification on the speculation.
