WEB pages are a form of communication and communication is crucial.
Mr Gasoyne is one of 19 students enrolled in the course which is now available for the first time in Mackay.
Next semester the TAFE plans to open the course up to the whole of Queensland and offer the course externally online.
"One example ... when you click cancel to exit a web page, a box will come up and ask if you really want to leave the site."
Ms Dopathi said this added extra security, and websites used this technology for credit card payments.
CQIT Information Technology teacher Lawrie Comben said the first class was booked out, which proved there was great demand for the course in the region.
"It's vitally important - what is the first thing you want to do when you look something up? You Google it," Mr Comben said.
He said business owners and people who were looking to better themselves - in the eyes of potential employers - were taking advantage of the course.
"You can know absolutely nothing about web page design and after six months you will be able to design profession web pages," Mr Comben said.
"We had a past student enrol in a webpage course... and she has now put an ad in the Pocket Trader as a webpage designer.
