INDONESIAN police have foiled extremists' plans to bomb the presidential palace in Jakarta.

A raid by officers from counter-terror squad Densus 88 found a pressure-cooker bomb with 3kg of explosives at a house in one the capital's suburbs.

Police said the extremists planned to detonate the bomb - which would have had a blast radius of about 300m - at a changing of the guard ceremony at the palace.

Four people - including a woman - were arrested.

Police carried out a controlled detonation of the bomb.
