Perth man Dr Tareq Kamleh, who graduated from medical school at Adelaide University in 2010, is believed to have worked at Mackay Base Hospital from 2013.

It is believed the paediatrician worked at the Queensland hospital after his contract expired at the Women's and Children's Hospital in South Australia, where he had worked since 2011.

It is unclear at this stage how long he worked in Mackay.

The propaganda video shows Dr Kamleh holding a newborn baby at a hospital in Syria, where he calls on other medical professionals to join.

He said in the video he was offering his medical services as part of his jihad for Islam.
