Iggy eyes ARIA glory

THE region's favourite rapper, Iggy Azalea, who left Australia years ago to crack the US market, has scored four nominations in this year's ARIA Awards.

The Mullumbimby-raised musician (real name Amythest Kelly) has been nominated for Song of the Year for her American No.1 Fancy, Best Urban Album for The New Classic, Breakthrough Artist and Best Female.

What a coup for the Northern Rivers! It's not every day one of our own is nominated for such a prestigious award.

It's also nice to see headlines about Iggy concerning her actual music, instead of trivial "stories" like a possible sex tape, a former marriage speculation, or whether her decision to wear socks and sandals is a good fashion choice.
