OPINION: Awarding highway upgrade tender great for business

I WAS delighted to hear the news that Pacific Complete had won the tender for the Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Hwy upgrade.

The other announcement, that this $4.3 billion, 155km project would be fast tracked to be finished within five years, was the icing on the cake.

Not only will the construction phase prove to be great opportunity for the region's unemployed people but will also be a wonderful, much needed opportunity for local businesses to get involved as well.

Of course the best outcomes from all this activity will be a drastically reduced road toll as well as much improved travel times.

The Northern Rivers NSW Business Chamber will work closely with the chambers of commerce and local councils in the region to ensure they are fully updated on the many opportunities for their existing and future members.

I will meet with Pacific Complete in coming weeks to ensure a close working relationship for the benefit of everyone in the region.
