Hundreds more child abuse reports fall through the cracks
ANOTHER 344 suspected child abuse reports did not reach police, a manual check of a bungled Queensland Government computer program has found.
Auditors Deloitte undertook an independent investigation into the failed implementation of the OneSchool Student Protection Reporting module and made 21 recommendations.
Education Minister Kate Jones said the government would adopt all of those recommendations.
The program was meant to allow principals to report possible mistreatment of a child by a parent or guardian to authorities.
Although principals were receiving notifications the reports were being received, that was not always the case.
About 1000 reports did not make it to police.
Ms Jones said about 90% of the reports that did not reach police had been investigated and there was no indication any children suffered harm from principals' concerns not reaching authorities.
She said a contractor incorrectly coded the software and it was not live tested.
