House Rules winners rethink Coast wedding plans
IT WAS a reality TV fantasy ending but it could spell the end of a Sunshine Coast fairytale.
House Rules winners Lisa Lamond and Adam Dovile had planned to tie the knot beside the Maroochy River in September.
Now the popular Victorian couple say they are having second thoughts.
Brisbane-born Lisa spent many holidays on the Sunshine Coast and has a grandmother and uncle still living here.
She and Adam, who had their $540,000 mortgage paid off after winning Sunday night's grand final, say they may now have to move the nuptials down south.
"We've sort of been umming and ahhing about it," Lisa said yesterday as grand final celebrations continued.
"Adam has a much bigger family than me, so it would make more sense for my family to come down from up north and to have a wedding in Melbourne.
"We're going to give ourselves the next couple of days to take everything in."
The couple came from behind after the judges' votes to be clear winners on the viewer vote.
A lot of that popularity could be put down to Lisa's rapid improvement and Adam's remarkable tolerance.
When the show began, the pretty blonde barely knew which end of a paintbrush to hold but by the grand final she had blossomed into a seasoned renovator. Adam went from tolerantly helping his partner to being in awe of her new-found skills.
Lisa said her rapid transformation could even see her switch careers from HR manager to renovator and designer.
"I really loved doing the design that's been part of this show," she said.
