We'll be listening in as many ways as we can
EDITORIAL: G'day ... my name's John and I'm your new neighbour.
As of this morning, I also have the privilege of being editor of the Fraser Coast Chronicle.
While I take that role extremely seriously, it's probably the neighbour thing that matters most.
At the moment, I only know the Fraser Coast as a visitor. I can bang on about whales and Mary Poppins as much as any blow-in, but that is not the real heart of the community.
The true community heart beats in homes across our area, in community groups, sporting groups, churches, volunteer organisations and in schools.
It is my fortunate task to listen to that heart and reflect it in the pages of the Chronicle.
As a community leader, the Chronicle must hear what is being said and reflect that honestly and accurately, without fear or favour.
And that is what we intend to do.
In the weeks ahead, my team and I will be listening to the community in as many ways as we can.
I'll be spending some time at the Fraser Coast Show and I hope you'll pop in to let me know what we do well and what we could do better. If you can't get there, send a letter, leave a comment online or flick me an email.
The door's open - let's see how well we can work together.
