Heat hoping history repeats in finals hunt

BRISBANE Heat needed to beat the Hurricanes in their final game in Hobart to reach the Big Bash League semi-finals last summer - and they did.

The Heat needs to repeat the dose after keeping its title defence alive with a 32-run win against the Strikers at the Adelaide Oval.

That result means the Heat must win in Hobart on Thursday to finish fourth behind the already finals-bound Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers.

The fifth-placed Hurricanes can leapfrog the Heat before then if they beat the undefeated Stars at the MCG tomorrow, leaving them a point ahead of the Heat before the showdown with the Queenslanders.

Meanwhile BBL commentator, former batsman Mark Waugh (pictured), will be inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame during the Allan Border Medal tonight, joining his twin brother Steve.
