ANIMAL welfare groups have labelled a video of an Albion man biting a live rat's head off and eating it "disturbing".

The 24-year-old man, since identified as Matt Maloney, is shown biting the head off a rat and slowly swallowing it.

He then drinks three shots of vodka and is punched in the face before a chair is broken over him.

Following the release of the video, RSPCA Qld Inspectors executed a warrant his home and seized a snake and a number of rats.

RSPCA Qld spokesperson Michael Beatty said it was horrific.

"Normal people simply don't do things like this."

The video comes on the heels of another disturbing video which showed young men deliberately running over a possum and then laughing as it attempts to crawl off with its entrails hanging out.

The video was posted on Instagram.

"Both of these videos are very, very disturbing," Mr Beatty said.

"They show a complete lack of empathy and animal cruelty of this magnitude can be a precursor for even greater violence in years to come."

He said RSPCA Qld wanted to thank Queenslanders for their support in the effort to identify the young men involved in the possum incident.
