Govt "robbing Peter to Pay Paul"

THE NSW Government is "robbing Peter to pay Paul" when it comes to pledging funding support to the National Disability Insurance Scheme, says prominent Australian lawyer Anthony Scarcella.

Premier Barry O'Farrell has promised to provide an extra $35million to the NDIS rollout in the Hunter region.

Mr Scarcella, spokesman for the Australia Lawyers Alliance, has questioned why the State Government would vote to support a program benefiting about 10,000 people the same week it announced it was dramatically change working conditions for 80,000 public sector employees, including those with disabilities.

He accused the government of "kicking the guts" out of legal rights for NSW inured workers and financially supporting the NDIS out of fear.

"The same law is also temporarily dumping most injured workers onto the industrial scrap heap only to recycle them back into Centrelink and Medicare benefits," Mr Scarcella said

"There is no rhyme or reason to the government's policy direction."
