Tiger barely avoids having his worst round ever

AFTER starting on the 10th hole, three birdies on the front nine helped world No.1 Tiger Woods avoid the worst round of his proessional career at Muirfield Village.

Woods fired 44 on the back nine, his worst nine-hole score, before finishing with a seven-over par 79, just two shots better than his worst score for 18 holes.

The windy conditions claimed plenty of other victims in the third round - former Masters winner Zach Johnson and Rory Hicks fired 81s while Jordan Speith signed for an 82.
