George Christensen to speak at anti-Islam fundraising dinner

MEMBER for Dawson George Christensen is due to speak at a dinner to fund an anti-Islam organisation's defamation case.

Mr Christensen and conservative ally Senator Cory Bernardi are listed as guests on the Q Society of Australia's flyer for two February 9 and 10 events.

The organisation's website states guests will see Mr Christensen and Senator Bernardi in Melbourne on February 10.

Q Society states the events in Sydney and Melbourne "bring together brave freedom fighters and raise money for the legal defence fund".

Proceeds from the Defending Freedom of Speech dinner, which costs $150 per ticket, will be directed towards legal expenses for the Q Society, Kirralie Smith and Debbie Robinson

The society and the two women are embroiled in a Supreme Court defamation action launched by the Halal Certification Authority's Mohamed El-Mouehly.

It's linked to claims about Halal certification corruption and claims about the industry's push for sharia law in Australia.

Mr Christensen said he would be "speaking in support of free speech and against political correctness".

"I've been asked to appear to assist my good friend Kirralie (Smith)." he said,

The Australian Liberty Alliance - which had candidates running for the Senate in the 2016 federal election - stemmed from Q Society.
