FORMER Broncos junior Bryce Hegarty will make his run-on Super Rugby debut for the Melbourne Rebels against the Stormers at AAMI Park tomorrow night.
The 20-year-old, whose father Steve played for Manly in the NRL, comes into the side after injuries to James O'Connor and Angus Roberts, and the self-imposed standing down of Kurtley Beale to enter rehab for alcohol-related issues.
Rebels coach Damien Hill said said he was confident Hegarty, who spent three seasons with the Broncos U20s, was the best person to wear the No.10 jersey against the Stormers after a strong performance off the bench against the Blues last Saturday.
"Bryce stepped into the role of flyhalf and delivered a very composed performance at Eden Park," Hill said.
"His training form and the work within the rugby community leaves me with no doubt that he is ready to lead this team's attack."
Hegarty excelled at rugby and league at high school in Brisbane before choosing to sign with the Broncos.
Hill has also named 22-year-old winger Kimami Sitauti to make his debut off the bench.
