FEBRUARY 29, the leap day, has proven a special date in the lives of several new mothers on the Coffs Coast.

The Coffs Harbour Hospital maternity ward welcomed three 'Leap Year' babies in the early hours and expected a host more throughout the day.

New mum Rebecca Jessep marvelled at the fact her little daughter Amelia Rose, born at 4.38am, will be forever young.

Technically young Amelia Rose and the other babies born today will rightfully celebrate their 21st birthdays when they are 84 years of age.

"It's a very lucky day for her to be born on, but we will make sure she has a birthday every year," Mrs Jessep said.

"Amelia has arrived on such a special day, it's just amazing," dad Kym said.

A few doors down and mother of two Momosha Peters held her little boy Leo, who was born at 6.04am.

"He is just so beautiful, my little leap year boy," Momosha said.

Jacinta Berry also celebrated the birth of a little boy at 5.40am.

"We haven't named him yet but he is my beautiful third child, a little brother to Marley and Eli," she said.
